It’s a NEW Year!

round up

Are you ready?  Here we GROW!

Welcome to the inaugural year of Trail Life USA AND American Heritage Girls joining together at Pinewood Presbyterian Church! American Heritage Girls troop FL3110 is nearly full, and to accept new girl members, we need parents to volunteer to assist in the units 2Xs a week.  The new boy-troop, Trail Life USA Troop number FL-0407 is ready to begin accepting leaders and their boys as well.  Join us this Saturday, July 19th from 10-12PM at the combined AHG and TL Family Round Up.

As with any troop, we can only operate when there are volunteers to help run the troop.  Therefore, we need you to be willing to assist on Tuesdays from 6:30-8PM!  You won’t regret it!

Please stop by Pinewood Presbyterian Church this Saturday at 10AM to fill out paperwork and learn more about the necessary roles to operate both of the troops (we are separate troops [boys separate from girls], but we will meet on the same night for family unity).   The troops are looking for leaders!  That means you!  The AHG troop is looking for girls K-12, and the TL troop is looking for boys K-12.  That means your children!

Come join us as we build women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country, while dedicating our boys to the adventure of growing in the image of God in God’s great outdoors.

Waiting List Option

American Heritage Girls in Middleburg is wrapping up their school year, but we are starting our waiting list for next year. We are letting current members re-register, and we are then taking interested names on a waiting list from now and throughout the summer. In August, we will have an AHG Round-Up, and at that time, we will let those who have been wait-listed enroll first, followed by any new-comers after that.

AHG begins for girls at age 5 and goes through 18 years old. But we do have a girl-mentor program for girls 18-21 so they can be mentored by our adult leaders and work with the girls in the troop.

We have units for girls in Pathfinders (5yrs old), Tenderhearts (1st-3rd graders), Explorers (4th-6th graders), Pioneers (7th-9th), and Patriots (10th-12th).  We are hoping to grow our older girl enrollment in the troop, and so if you have an older girl (7th-12th), you may want to see if American Heritage Girls might be a good fit for your family and her. No matter your girls’ age, the wait list is open. However, there is plenty of room for the youngest group (Pathfinders) and the oldest girls (Pioneers and Patriots).

If you are interested in the American Heritage Girls troop FL 3110 in Middleburg, please contact us at AHG_Troop_3110@hotmail.com (AHG underscore Troop underscore 3110 at hotmail dot com) to learn more about the troop and to help you decide if you might want to be added to the wait list for the 2014-2015 troop year.

AHG FL 3110’s First Year!

AHG Girl paper dollsisters girl

Thank you all for your support over this first year.  We grew by leaps and bounds, met some wonderful, loving Christian families, and have had a great time sharing the love of Christ.

We will be ending our year in May and gearing up for the next school year throughout the summer.  We will start the troop activities in September 2014, and there will be some wonderful changes in store.  We have learned a lot this year, and we have plans to help the troop continue to grow together as mature and equipped followers of Christ.

If you have any questions about our troop or AHG in general, feel free to contact us.  I’m sure there is a troop next you, and if not…there is help to get one started!

What Does an American Heritage Girl Do?

Pathfinder – Ages 5-6 and in Kindergarten
Girls earn necklace beads for attendance, participation and bible verse memorization while learning the four parts of the AHG Oath. They receive the Eliza Shirley Award for completion of this level. Pathfinders are only allowed to participate in overnight camping events when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tenderheart – Ages 6-9 and in grades 1-3
A Tenderheart earns Achievement Badges in any of the six Frontiers of Skill and receives activity patches for participating in Troop activities or special events. They earn the Sacagawea Award for achieving the highest level of skill and service at this level. Service Stars are awarded for every 5 hours of community service. Tenderhearts are only allowed to participate in overnight camping events when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Explorer – Ages 9-12 and in grades 4-6
An Explorer earns Achievement Badges in any of the six Frontiers of Skill and receives activity patches for participating in Troop activities and/or special events. They receive Service Stars for every 10 hours of community service. The Lewis and Clark Award is earned by those girls who achieve the highest level of skill and service in this age group. Explorers are allowed to participate in overnight camping events as well.

Pioneer – Ages 12-14 and in grades 7-8
A Pioneer continues to earn Achievement Badges, Service Stars and activity patches. The highest award level for Pioneers is the Harriet Tubman Award. These girls may also become Camp and Event Aides.  The Pioneer level is where girls really begin to show leadership skills by assisting their leaders with planning, organizing and staffing special events for AHG in the community or within their Troop.

Patriot – Ages 14-18 and in grades 9-12
The Patriot is the highest program level in AHG. These girls plan and carry out activities with Unit Leaders who function as “facilitators”, allowing girls to make decisions on a regular basis.  As with lower levels, they too earn Achievement Badges, Service Stars and activity patches. Since the girls are older, they are required to demonstrate the highest level of skill in all areas. The level award for the Patriots is the Dolley Madison Award.

Patriot level girls may go above and beyond to earn the highest award of the American Heritage Girls, The Stars and Stripes Award. This is the most prestigious of awards, and requires a great deal of time, sacrifice and devotion to achieve this award.

Easter Weekend!

“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28: 16-20)Cross picture

We wish you a wonderful Easter weekend as you go through your reflection and remembrance of Jesus Christ’s payment for all of our sins.  Have a blessed Easter!
